Georgia’s signature style achieves the rare quality of encompassing both an avant-garde yet wearable aesthetic. Graduating from Parsons Paris School of Art and Design in 2008, Hardinge was awarded ‘the Golden Thimble’ for best designer for her graduate collection. She was recognised for creating highly technical and structural pieces, which showed her creativity for contemporary design. Continuing her success, Samsung then went on to choose her to create a one-off collection for their commercial, which was aired worldwide. Having launched her debut collection in September 2009, Hardinge went on to exhibit with the BFC in Somerset House the following season, alongside her first promotional fashion film collaboration, entitled ‘Cage’. September 2010 saw her debut catwalk collection, ‘La Belle et la Bete’, be selected for sponsorship by VFS as part of their ‘Ones-to-Watch’ initiative. Since then, Hardinge has continued to shine, most notably in her label’s celebrated collaboration with Victoria’s Secret, sponsorship from Swarovski, and much coverage by Vogue and other major publications. Hardinge has delivered four striking collections under her distinctive label. Georgia’s Autumn|Winter 2011 ‘Merit Award’ win saw her first stand-alone runway show at Vauxhall Fashion Scout come off with astounding success. The innovative young designer’s inspiration for design comes from a passion for architectural shapes and sculpture, which can be seen throughout her work, forming landscape shapes to uniquely accentuate and flatter the female silhouette. Fashion is Georgia’s way of moulding design techniques to create an art piece of lasting purpose. This season saw Georgia weave the concepts of destruction and disfiguration into her structured style and streamlined silhouettes, continuing to show skilful appreciation for the female form. |
